500 FA TEGRITY Q22 - Short Answer
Question |
| Are there any
pedagogical/andragogical best practices you would recommend to other
faculty planning to use or considering use of Tegrity? (Note: Tegrity is
planning awards to faculty who implement innovative and effective best
practices, so, we may be following up with you on this to hear more about
your experience) |
| |
| (1)- |
Make the tegrity experience
more interactive. |
| (2)- |
Use it to create lab
demonstrations - excellent tool Use tegrity to do live Q & A
sessions Use tegrity to do permanent video assignment review
sessions for students to refer to on an ongoing basis |
| (3)- |
Provide students with
exmination reviews on Tegrity. This seemed to improve the students
preparation for the examinations. |
| (4)- |
Tegrity is an initial upfront
major time investment; however, it is awesome once it is in place-
you still tweak it to make sure you add more information or update
content but it so nice for the students to review with or even have
a total lecture from home on |
| (5)- |
Many positive student
evaluations. Tuck Minnett input and assistance was invaluable |
| (6)- |
Yes!!! Because of the screen
capture and annotation saving capability of Tegrity...I've been able
to move into a "you try and match" mode of lecture teaching instead
of a "watch me do it" mode of lecture teaching. What I mean is this:
I've saved all of my annotated powerpoints from a previous
semester's worth of Tegrity recordings. As I plan for a given class
session this semester, I go grab the blank powerpoint I had prepared
and I augment it with some of the annotated slides. When I'm
presenting this in class, the students sit in groups and try
problems themselves. I am able to circulate about the room and help
each group. Then when we are ready for closure of the given problem,
voila, I have the annotated slide to show and we can move on. I like
being able to circulate the class instead always being tied to the
board. IT TAKES A LOT OF TIME TO PREPARE :)(but it's worth it!)

500 ST TEGRITY Q21 - Short Answer
Question |
| My experience with Tegrity would
have been better if (please type 'none' if nothing comes to mind) |
| |
| (1)- |
there had been regular
technical support available in the classroom, when I needed it.
|
| (2)- |
I had a best practices model
to begin with althugh I am satisfied with what I have |
| (3)- |
The system had been more
stable when I started and if I had had more actual in the classroom
tech support when I started out |
| (4)- |
The camera didn't show me a a
talking head |
| (5)- |
it worked all the time we had
better training on how to keep files and names and dates of lectures
to use in future years I would like an easier set up-and take down
system...and uploading and keeping track of classes is confusing.
|
| (6)- |
It has been a big learning
curve and I still have much more to learn but it is getting easier
|
| (7)- |
Nothing comes to mind |
| (8)- |
My experience and my student's
experience would have been better if I would have had editing
capabilities at my desktop and my home computer. My class length
recordings are not so user friendly to new students...I want to be
able to cut them down to smaller chunks.

500 ST TEGRITY Q23 - Short Answer
Question |
| Please describe any technical
problems experienced with Tegrity during the course. |
| |
| (1)- |
microphones not working,
document camera problems (can't get the entire image captured) up
loading, finding files, attempting to edit-I don't even try anymore.
|
| (2)- |
Lock ups mostly |
| (3)- |
I placed my whole program on
tegrity over the past 4 years ....so if there was I problem I
encountered it!!!!! |
| (4)- |
locks up. server is down wont
upload wont download |
| (5)- |
Occasionally there was
difficulty with uploading my classroom Tegrity presentation to the
server. |
| (6)- |
In the preveious semesters
there were at least four or five classes when it would not record-
generally it was when we were experiencing over all network issues-
this semester it has been great.!!!!!!!!!!!! |
| (7)- |
Tuck Minnett has always been
available, somewhere via the Internet---Pretty neat!!! |
| (8)- |
For the older stations,
(without the WACM) it is nearly impossible to go through the camera
setup wizard...I'm trying desperately in a class that has the old
one and I've yet to have made one recording this semester.

Question |
| Please tell us if there are any
items we should have asked about but did not or if you have any other
comments. |
| |
| (1)- |
Give faculty more time to
prepare and use this system. Allow for breaking down the equipment
and setting up in between classes. |
| (2)- |
I like Tegrity. I hope to
learn more about it and do more cool things as my class schedules
allow. Tuck has been very good in helping me on any issues. |
| (3)- |
Please ask me about what kind
of training and support that I feel that Faculty need to utilize
this technology.
