Higher One Refund Quick Reference Guide
DCCCD has partnered with Higher One, a financial services company, to process and distribute refunds and disbursements to all Financial Aid and credit students through the new DCCCD Money Card program. Effective April 2009, Higher One is replacing the current processing systems for refunds and disbursements, which had been handled through a combination of Chase Bank cards and ACH transactions.
If you are a student with the DCCCD, which includes credit students or anyone receiving Financial Aid or waivers, you are eligible to receive a DCCCD Money Card. To ensure that you receive your card, you are required to VERIFY MAILING ADDRESS INFORMATION and set up an "activation word" on eConnect (login required). For security reasons, you will also be required to answer your Challenge Question each time you access this screen.
After you verify your information and set up your "activation word", your card will arrive in the mail within 5-7 business days. If your card does not arrive
within this time, you can use the “Where's My Card” screen on eConnect to check on the status. You will be required to provide your last name, 'Student ID' and "activation word." If you are unable to use this screen or have other questions regarding your card, please contact Higher One.
DCCCD Money Card eConnect Log In Steps
- Log into www.econnect.dcccd.edu.
- On the eConnect Main Menu Screen, select Current Credit Student Menu.
- On the eConnect Current Credit Screen, scroll down to Payment & Disbursement and select DCCCD Money Card Address Verification. If your address is incorrect, please contact Admissions Office.
- On the DCCCD Money Card Address Verification Screen, scroll down to challenge question and enter the answer. If you can’t remember your Challenge Question you will need to submit a request to manually reset it. To do this, on the DCCCD Money Card Address Verification Screen, please click on the manual reset link and follow instructions. For security reasons, both your eConnect Password and Challenge Question will be reset. Please allow 24 hours. When you receive your email notification stating that your manual reset is complete, you will need to use the Account Set Up Screen before logging on.
- When the address is verified, you will need to create an activation word.
- Once the information has been verified, a DCCCD Money Card will automatically be mailed to the address on file. The card should arrive in 5-7 business days. Please follow Higher One Refund Card Instructions to activate your card.
Higher One -- Activation Instructions
- Once you receive the Higher One Refund Card, log on to their website address located on the DCCCD Money Card and enter the 16 digit card number with the activation word to select how refunds will be issued. If you don’t remember the activation word, return to eConnect to reset it.
- Once you are logged in, you’ll choose one of three options for receiving your money:
- Deposit to a free Higher One checking account — The DCCCD Money Card then becomes a debit card for your account. Before choosing this option, visit http://www.DCCCDMoneyCard.com so you can learn how the card works, understand its benefits and find out how to avoid paying any fees. (With this option, you’ll get your money within one business day.)
- ACH deposit to another checking account of your choice (With this option, you’ll get your money within two to three business days.)
- Paper check mailed to your home (With this option, you’ll get your money in five to seven business days.)
