Mission Statement

The H. Paxton Moore Fine Art Gallery seeks to showcase local, regional and national artists working in a variety of media as well as host exhibits traveling nationally. Exhibitions will enhance the education and experience of the students, faculty, staff and community at large. Lectures, workshops, and other events will accompany each exhibit to engage the public in the understanding of art.

One More H. Paxton Moore Fine Art Gallery, El Centro College – Dallas, TX. is proud to present New Works, An Exhibition Featuring the Visual Fine Art Faculty of El Centro College.

This exhibition will feature works in mixed media, digitally altered media, metal works, ceramics, and traditional/non-traditional painting and drawing by the Visual Fine Art Faculty of El Centro College, Dallas, Texas.

Michael Anthony will have works in various metals in traditional forms of jewelry. Barbara Armstrong documents the game of cloud watching in acrylic paintings of real dawns and sunsets. Chris Cunningham will be showing works 3D works in clay and wood. Omar Hernandez will present digital images and mixed media works on panel influenced by children’s books and toys. Chaitra Linehan works are a mixed media display of fantasy images of familiar yet strange fairy tales. Rosemary Meza-DesPlas will be exhibiting mixed media works on paper and canvas exploring women in the arts and society. Andy Myers will be showing works in clay and mixed media sculptures. Eddy Rawlinson will have on display mixed media paintings exploring various layers of political/pop-culture images of the hero/anti-hero in the mainstream and alternative media with its connection to cultural behavior and language. Julie Shipp will be exhibiting new paintings on canvas.

Faculty artists featured in this exhibition are: Michael Anthony, Barbara Armstrong, Chris Cunningham, Omar Hernandez, Chaitra Linehan, Rosemary Meza-DesPlas, Andy Myers, Eddy Rawlinson, and Julie Shipp.

A Reception will be held on Thursday, October 8, 5:00 – 7:00 p.m., with a gallery talk at 6:00 p.m., in the H. Paxton Moore Fine Art Gallery, El Centro College, located on the first floor of the new Student and Technology building. The entrance is located at 801 Main Street.
