Code Yellow / Emergency Response Policy

"Code Yellow" Emergency Procedure will be implemented in the event of a Chemical or Biological Alert. The alert may come from College Police, College Administration, Dallas Police or Fire Department or City of Dallas Emergency Command Center Official. The College police office shall contact Facility Services (2060) to secure HVAC System per policy (below). College Police shall contact 911 for DFD HAZMAT Response for internal alerts. Code Yellow Alert will be initiated by the college police office should College Administration not immediately be available and administration shall be contacted ASAP regarding the Code Yellow emergency.

External Alert:

Operations will secure (shut down) the HVAC system campus wide and the elevators.

Building electronic exterior door locks will be put in "secure mode" by the Operator on duty and College Police shall manual lock exterior exits. Exits shall remain locked until the emergency is declared over.

Internal Alert:

Operator on duty will shut down the HVAC system campus wide.

Affected Floor will stand by in an area away from suspicious package.

In the event individuals leave the affected floor they will assemble in the gym and wait for Dallas Fire Department Hazmat Response.

Operations will make a building STAND BY announcement using the emergency Public Address System:

THE EMERGENCY CONDITION HAS BEEN CANCELED
