The mission of the United States Department of Education
Title IV GEAR UP grant is to significantly increase
the number of low-income students who are prepare to
enter and succed in postsecondary education.
GEAR UP brings students, parents, schools, business,
and the community into a partnership. This partnership
encourages, supports, and expands the education, training,
and career ooportunities for our youth to strengthen
our community.
Approximately 400 seventh grade students were "adopted"
by El Centro College in 1999, and are now freshmen at
North Dallas High School.
Educational opportunities are offered by the
Dallas County Community College District (DCCCD)
without regard to race, color, age, national origin, religion, sex, disability or sexual orientation.
