I received a Master's Degree in History from the University of Texas at Arlington 
in 1988 and began as an adjunct instructor at El Centro College the following 
year.  I began as a fulltime instructor in the Fall of 1997.  Previously, I 
taught high school and in adult education programs.  My areas of expertise in 
U.S. history include social and labor history.  

My history classes are not like most classes.  I emphasize creative and 
innovative approaches to the study of history.  Students are given unique 
opportunities to explore all aspects of history and their own interests in 
history.  In-class activities, readings and internet exercises as well as 
special projects will give each student the chance to explore history in a unique 
way.  I emphasize a multi-cultural approach to history including women, 
minorities, immigrants and the poor as well as the traditional aspects of 
history including politics, military and foreign policy issues, heroes/heroines, 
and interpretation.  Students will develop many skills during history studies 
including vocabulary, writing, critical thinking, and debating.
