This course explores front/back end dynamic website development through database connectivity using multimedia rich interfaces, site management and maintenance tools. Topics include Third Party Solutions from a variety of vendors, cost analysis of in-house development vs. external solutions. Students will understand the difference between static web designs vs. dynamic presentation. The student will also develop the ability to create dynamic websites using Apache, PHP and MySQL.

 Section 5420 on-line course. Required software includes Vista Business (downloadable) software, Internet, and e-mail address/account. Online students have two choices for completing the lab activities for Vista Client configuration. The following are minimum system requirements for both scenarios: 1) Vista installed directly on available hardware requries (1 GHz 32-bit (x86) or 64 bit processor, 512 MB of system memory (1 GB recommended), 80 GB hard drive, DVD-ROM drive, network adaptor, for Windows Aero, support for DirectX 9 graphics with WDDM driver, 128 MB of graphics memory (minimum), Pixel shader 2.0 in hardware, and 32 bits per pixel; or 2) Vista installed in a Virtual PC 2007 virtual machine on a host computer requires (same hardware specs as above, except recommend minimum 2 GB of system memory and Virtual PC 2007 installed (free download) or students may attend open lab on Friday evening or another time designated by instructor to complete required labs.
